It is no secret that the Internet is the most extraordinary recent happening of the computer industry, but, what is the current vanguard trend on the Internet, the new technology that saves money and makes the access to this network even easier?
This can be accomplished mainly through two types of products: economic degraded computers and add-ons that work with TVs and telephone lines. You do not need to be an expert in computer science or be a millionaire in order to use these products, which are responsible for more users going online. Today, some of these technological advances can be found on the market and many distributors have already announced that they will start selling similar products during the coming year.
Many small businesses need computers to store standard office applications and to connect to the Internet. Network computers, a new hardware category, do both things for less money: less than a thousand dollars per user. Network computers differ from standard PCs in that they work as the server terminal of a computer; for example, a 75 MHz Pentium. All of its applications, including the Operating System and those needed to have access to the Internet, run in the server. You connect to the server using the network computer that simply shows the images.
Furthermore, computer manufacturers are creating a new generation of convergent products which provide access to the Web using a standard telephone line and, in some cases, a television set, but they do not require a personal computer. Until now, these devices are limited to connect to the Internet and entertain the family. Although you would not use them as the main means to go online, they could be useful if you are in a trip or at home and need access to the Internet.
