FastSigns was established by Gary Salomon and his partner Robert Schanbaum in 1985. It began franchising in 1986. In 1985, Gary Salomon who was a print broker and catalog developer visited a computer shop in Austin, Texas. There he was impressed with how quickly the shop was able to produce vinyl signs and immediately decided to open a signmaking shop of his own. Thus this led to the emergence of FastSigns. By the year 2000, the company had more than 400 stores making banners, architectural letters, vehicle graphics and signs for windows, yards and buildings. FastSigns’ total investments include 208100 to 321800 dollars, with a franchise fee of 25000 dollars, ongoing royalty fee of 6 percent and 20 years term of agreement which is renewable. According to the Entrepreneur magazine, they ranked at the 106th position in 2006. They are dedicated to maintain leadership in vinyl sign manufacturing industry by recruiting business partners who are qualified and passionate about great customer service.
