Because of their good service they represent in some raking according to the Entrepreneur magazine of 2002 to 2006. That includes the Franchise 500 rank, ranking 215th in 2006 and 196th in 2005. The Franchisee has ranked first in the category in the year 2005. By the time of Mr. Kelley’s passing on July 4, 2003, the restaurant chain had more than doubled in size. Steak n Shake currently operates over 430 restaurants in 20 different states which give a convincing testament to Mr. Kelley’s drive, wisdom and business skills.
