In the 1920s, an innovative chemist and engineer by the name of Harry Conklin created the company's first products  cleaners, petroleum conditioners and lubricant additives. In 1969, his sons expanded the business and opened the door to business ownership for thousands of entrepreneurs. The company is now owned by Charles W. and Judy Herbster. They provide service to over 20,000 Conklin independent business owners nationally. They are members of the direct selling association.
